... " Every six months, eclipses show the turning points in our lives. They indicate what we are to accomplish for the following year to 3 years. They bring in news and events that are sometime "out of the blue". Time seems to speed up. Eclipses can clear what may obscure the way forward.


Eclipses appear often in the mythology of different cultures most often as symbols of obliteration, fear, and the overthrow of the natural order of things. The ancients believed that during an eclipse, the "mighty will fall". (We lost Pope Paul II during the last eclipse in April 2005 and Ronald Reagan on the eclipse in June 2004). Eclipses were the great omens of fated, large-scale events. The word eclipse comes from a Greek word meaning "abandonment." Quite literally, an eclipse was seen as the Sun abandoning the earth.

Remember that the key words for Eclipses are emphasis and crisis. An Eclipse tends to emphasize matters related to the house it falls in on your astrological chart or what planets it hits. These matters will then demand more attention, thought, energy, and time from you, at least until the next Eclipse. Eclipses open doors and invite us to come in, illuminating and stimulating areas of our lives that need our attention.

This month we have two Eclipses:

1. Oct 3- New Moon, Solar Eclipse at 6:28 AM at 10 Libra. This is a central annular solar eclipse

Those of you with the ascendant or personal planets at 8 to 12 Aries or Libra will feel the affects of this Eclipse. If you have no planets at those degrees or signs, you will experience some awakening or change in the area ruled by the house that contains 10 Libra. If one of your personal planets is being "hit" by the Solar Eclipse, look back to see what happened 19 years ago. The eclipses repeat at the same degree of the zodiac every 19 years

The path of this eclipse goes through Africa, Spain and Portugal. There may be significant events in these areas of the world.

An eclipse in the sign of Libra will bring personal relationships to the fore. There will be sudden events around marriage and other personal relationships especially if you have Libra strong in your birth chart.

The eclipse of the Sun has been traditionally viewed with dread over the ages, as the Sun seems to disappear from the sky. It gets dark in the middle of the day and it seems as if something dreadful is about to happen. Solar Eclipses tend to relate to sudden events that disrupt our day to day functioning; they are the crisis that seems to come out of nowhere and that suddenly demand all of our conscious attention and focus. They tend to stir things up on a physical and conscious level much more than Lunar Eclipses.

A Solar Eclipse always occurs during a New Moon, New Moons are important because they bring in new, fresh energy. This Solar Eclipse is in Libra so it is a good time to start a new project involving the arts or partnerships.


Remember, New Moon/Solar Eclipses are always very powerful times to meditate. Send out your intention of what you want to manifest over the next six months.

Take notice of any news that comes in 4 days before the Eclipse. The news will foretell big changes coming into your life or our collective lives. The key events may occur within the first month, and our lives may get stirred up quite a bit, but we do have the next four or five months to understand and integrate the experience.

2. Oct 17 - A Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 24 Aries at 8:14 AM

A Lunar Eclipse is a culmination or a settling down of what was awakened during the Solar Eclipse. If you have personal planets or the ascendant at 22 to 26 degrees of Aries or Libra you could have a very emotional time in the house where the eclipse falls in your chart. These houses and planets describe the parts of your life that will look much different a year from now.

Full moon Lunar Eclipses generally are more emotional than Solar Eclipses. They can bring up old memories and feelings. As a full Moon, a Lunar Eclipse tends to bring completion or endings. On a Lunar Eclipse something will end and on a Solar Eclipse something will begin. A Lunar Eclipse is an opportunity to break habits or eliminate socially conditioned patterns of thought and behavior that stand in way of self realization. .

Full moon eclipses can bring things to completion that you have been working on. You can finally make decisions about issues that you have been thinking about. The Sun opposite the Moon, lights up the Moon and brings previously unexamined areas of your life into awareness.

A Lunar Eclipse can be felt as early as 2 weeks prior to the Eclipse itself and can last up to 6 months. This Lunar eclipse occurs in the sign of the warrior It will particularly affect people with Aries and Libra in their chart. Aries energy will be emphasized. Anger, sports, individuality and physical exertion.

Look for the house in your chart that contain 10 degrees of Libra for the Solar Eclipse effect and look for the house that contains 24 degrees of Aries or Libra for the Lunar Eclipse effect.
